About the MCMA

Our Story

For more than 248 years, Marines have earned a reputation as the most disciplined and lethal warfighters in the world. The Marine Corps legacy of honor, courage, and commitment inspired Captain Robert E. Richter, USMC (Deceased) to found The Marine Corps Mustang Association (MCMA), in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 10 November 1985. The MCMA was incorporated as a 501 c-19, veterans service organization. For decades the MCMA has upheld the highest standard of excellence and service to the Marine Corps community and our members. With great pride we celebrate the high privilege of being a Mustang. The MCMA is a full member of and participant in the National Marine Corps Council of Agencies.

What is a Mustang?

Any Marine, after having served on active duty in the enlisted ranks of the United States Marine Corps or Marine Corps Reserve, has risen to the officer ranks, and further served as a commissioned or warrant officer on either active duty or reserve status.

On Saturday, July 13, the nation was shocked to hear news of an assassination attempt made on former President Donald Trump. While speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year old shooter attempted to assassinate the former president from an elevated position of a nearby structure. As Mr. Trump was struck in the right ear, he instinctively ducked for cover and secret service agents responded by surrounding him. With the assistance of the agents, the former president stood up, shook his fist in defiance, and was swiftly moved off the stage.

Reports indicate that at least three other people suffered gunshot wounds. One of whom was David Dutch, a U.S. Marine, who currently serves as a Commandant to his Marine Corps League detachment in Pennsylvania.

One of the other men shot during the rally was former Fire Chief, Corey Comperatore. According to sources, Mr. Comperatore was in attendance with his wife and two daughters — Allyson, 27, and Kaylee, 24. As soon as the shots rang out, Mr. Comperatore instinctively dove in front of his family. His act of bravery cost him his life. In that moment, he gave his life to protect the lives of his wife and daughters.

“He threw my mom and I to the ground… [and] shielded my body from the bullet that came at us,” Allyson wrote on Facebook. “[He’s] the best dad a girl could ask for…and died a real-life superhero.”

The last moment these daughters shared with their father was him saving their lives. His act of love will forever be imprinted on them.

The look on former President Trump’s face and the story of this man taking a bullet for his family reminds me of a familiar passage of Scripture:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

In the critical moments of our life, a man’s true character emerges. The split-second reaction of a life-and-death scenario, reveals what is often underneath the surface. Many of you have experienced this in battle as you bravely defended our country. In the examples pictured above, we do not see fear. We see power, love and a sound mind.

As you encounter hardship, remember that your Father has not given you a spirit of fear that would paralyze you in the face of adversity. Instead, you will have everything you need to come through when the moment calls for it. As we look to God for our strength, allow His nature––power, love and a sound mind––to be demonstrated in your life as you lead your family, interact with your co-workers or serve in your local community.

Think about Corey Comperatore’s act of love. What do you want your family to remember you as? Be that person! May we be known as people who refuse to shrink back in the face of fear, but regularly demonstrate acts of love, strength and courage.

May God bless you, Mustangs! Along with your families and our great nation.

Happy 4th

Happy 4th, Marines!
God’s Eyes Rest Upon You

All around our country, millions of Americans will be celebrating the anniversary of our independence and the birth of our great nation. Houses will be adorned with red, white and blue. Old Glory will be flying high across the countryside while city streets will be lined with patriotic parades. And the air will be filled with the glorious sounds of freedom.

For nearly 250 years, we continue to celebrate our independence every July because of the great sacrifice countless American Veterans made securing our freedom and defending our precious way of life. Many of whom have paid the ultimate price, while others still bear the wounds of war on the inside and out.

If you are one of those patriots who have served our great nation, be encouraged to know this–you are not forgotten. We celebrate our freedom in your honor! We choose to remember your sacrifice and your duty.

But as you may know, enthusiasm and appreciation for your sacrifice can fade as Americans move on to the next set of summer activities. In spite of this, I have great news for you– God’s affection for you never fades!

The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the Lord rest upon the godly, and his heart responds to their prayers…”

God’s eyes rest upon you! He sees you and is attentive to your prayers...

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

“Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children...”   1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

How can this be? That God, our Father would love us so much?

The other day God spoke to me and said, "I'm not too good to be true." That statement stopped me in my tracks. Everything the Bible tells us about God, His good nature and His immeasurable love for us is absolutely true! We can put all our weight on His goodness and love for us.

I encourage you to spend some time today reflecting on how good our Father has been to you over the years - even through the difficult moments you may have experienced. Look with wonder at the depth of the Father's love for you and marvel in the fact that He has chosen YOU to be His very own beloved son or daughter. You belong to Him!

Happy Father's Day, Mustangs and I bless you to have a wonderful day with your family!

Introducing

U.S. Marines: Mustangs Of The Corps

We are proud to present our very own publication from 1991.

Mustangs Of The Corps was written and compiled from various sources by our very own John Darracott, Major, USMC (Ret). The purpose of this work was to provide a written account of the Mustangs of the Corps and include biographies of the then Active Duty and Retired Members of the MCMA. The heart behind this publication was to preserve the legacy of these brave Mustangs and pass along their real stories to their children and to generations to come.
